the myth of specialness

this is a picture of the local beach here in Charlevoix. it never looks the same as the colors seem to depend on what the wind is doing. the wind is usually doing something, that much is for sure. it's getting ominously cold - the kind of cold that makes you feel bewildered about what kind of person you want to be in the world, or a sparsely populated town. the other day i walked into the post office at three p.m. and there wasn't a single other customer in the entire building. the other day i ordered spaghetti with marinara sauce and i got egg noodles with ketchup.
